Authorities say the 21-year-old singer, born David Anthony Burke, is being held without bail in Los Angeles.

Musician D4vd Arrested After Teen’s Body Found in Tesla

D4vd, the R&B artist born David Anthony Burke, has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder after police discovered the body of a missing teenage girl inside his Tesla.

The victim, 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, had been reported missing in 2024. In September, LAPD detectives were called to a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a foul odor coming from Burke’s impounded vehicle. The car had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

Inside, authorities found a severely decomposed and dismembered body later identified as Rivas Hernandez. The medical examiner determined she had been dead for “an extended period of time” before being found.

Burke, 21, is being held without bail. Police say the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, where prosecutors will decide whether to file charges.

Burke’s legal team has maintained his innocence, stating:

“David has only been detained under suspicion. The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez.”

The arrest follows months of investigation, including a grand jury inquiry and a search warrant executed at a Hollywood Hills residence linked to Burke. Detectives seized a computer and other items.

Burke rose to fame in 2022 with viral TikTok hits like Romantic Homicide, later collaborating with artists such as SZA and Kali Uchis. His tour was canceled after Rivas Hernandez’s body was discovered.

Family members have said Rivas Hernandez told them she was going to meet Burke before she disappeared. Authorities have not commented on the nature of their relationship.
