According to numerous rumours, the Steelers will start Mitch Trubisky against the Panthers on Sunday since quarterback Kenny Pickett is still in the concussion protocol.

During the week, both Trubisky and Mason Rudolph received playing time at quarterback, with receiver Diontae Johnson publicly supporting Rudolph if Pickett had not been cleared. Rudolph, however, is expected to start Sunday’s game as Trubisky’s backup at quarterback.

Pickett has been classified as questionable on Sunday.

Rudolph has not played any games this season.

For Pittsburgh, Trubisky started the season’s first four games before being substituted at the break in Week Four. When Pickett got hurt, he entered the game during Pittsburgh’s victory over Tampa Bay and last week’s defeat to Baltimore.

Trubisky has made six appearances and has thrown for 1,073 yards on 63.3 percent of his attempts, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Last season, Rudolph made two appearances, one of which was the tie versus Detroit. In 2021, he completed 35 of his 58 passes for 277 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
