Princess Catherine of Wales has disclosed her cancer diagnosis in a video message shared by Kensington Palace this Friday, revealing that she has commenced early-stage chemotherapy.
In the video, the 42-year-old former Kate Middleton expressed that the diagnosis came as a “massive shock following an exceptionally challenging few months.”
The cancer was detected during tests conducted after she had successfully recovered from a significant abdominal surgery in January, Catherine revealed. She did not mention the specific type of cancer.

Speculations about Catherine’s health have been rife since she withdrew from the public eye in late December.
On January 17, Kensington Palace announced that Catherine was recuperating from a scheduled abdominal surgery. The palace stated that the princess “is not expected to resume public duties until after Easter,” which falls on March 31. Despite this, her prolonged absence sparked online conspiracy theories about the princess.
Last month, the royal family announced that King Charles III, aged 75, had been diagnosed with cancer. However, no updates were provided about Catherine until a photo of the Princess of Wales with her children — Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Prince George — taken by her husband Prince William, was shared on U.K.’s Mother’s Day. It was later discovered that the photo had been edited.
