After more than two years as an exclusive Stem Player release, Kanye West’s DONDA 2 has finally arrived on major streaming services—but with some significant tweaks and under mysterious circumstances.
The Long-Awaited Streaming Debut
Originally released in February 2022, DONDA 2 was initially only accessible through West’s $200 Stem Player, frustrating fans who didn’t want to splurge on the niche device. Now, the 18-track album is available on:
- Spotify
- YouTube Music
However, it’s still missing from Apple Music, and instead of appearing on West’s official artist profile, it’s been uploaded under a new account simply titled “DONDA.”
What’s Different in This Version?
While much of the album remains unchanged from its Stem Player iteration, West made some notable adjustments:
- Removed: The controversial “Eazy” (featuring The Game)
- Added: A new Future collab, “Mr. Miyagi” (with Playboi Carti)
- Revamped: “530” (previously an unfinished demo on Vultures 2)
The album artwork—a striking image of West’s childhood home engulfed in flames—remains the same.
Kim Kardashian’s Voice Still Included
Despite their tumultuous divorce, West kept Kardashian’s voice on the track “Sci-Fi,” where she declares:
“I married the best rapper of all time… He is the richest Black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.”
The audio is pulled from her 2021 Saturday Night Live monologue, recorded during happier times in their relationship.
Kanye’s Recent Musical Rollout
This release follows a flurry of activity from West:
- March 2024: Dropped BULLY, a “visual album” with no prior announcement
- April 2024: Teased WW3 (later renamed CUCK), featuring provocative song titles like “Heil Hitler” and “Cosby”
- Controversial artwork: The WW3 cover depicts two Klansmen embracing
Given West’s history of last-minute changes, fans are cautiously awaiting DONDA 2’s full rollout—especially if it eventually hits Apple Music and his official artist page.
