Anne Hathaway’s Cerulean Comeback: ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Begins Filming
A six-second TikTok was all it took — Anne Hathaway’s nod to Andy Sachs and that iconic blue sweater has fans buzzing about the long-awaited sequel to the Devil Wears Prada!
Anne Hathaway is officially heading back to Runway magazine — and she’s doing it in style.
On Monday, July 21, the 42-year-old actress teased the start of filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 with a cheeky TikTok video. In it, Hathaway brushes her teeth with an electric toothbrush — a modern upgrade from Andy Sachs’ manual one in the original film — while wearing a cerulean blue sweater and tousled hair, instantly evoking her character’s early days.
Her caption? “Heading to werk #dwp2.”
Fans instantly recognized the reference and flooded the comments with excitement.
“It’s not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis. It’s actually cerulean,” one user quoted, referencing Miranda Priestly’s legendary monologue.
“SHE’S WEARING THAT CERULEAN BLUE!!!!” another exclaimed.
“Feel like a kid waiting for Christmas for Devil Wears Prada SEQUEL!!!!” a third added.

The original 2006 film featured Hathaway as Andy Sachs, a fresh-faced assistant to Meryl Streep’s formidable editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly. One of the movie’s most iconic scenes involved Priestly dissecting Andy’s fashion choices — particularly her blue sweater — with surgical precision, turning “cerulean” into a pop culture buzzword.

Now, nearly two decades later, Hathaway’s TikTok tribute has reignited fan anticipation.
The sequel will see the return of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, alongside newcomers Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, and Pauline Chalamet. According to Variety, the plot will follow Priestly as she grapples with the decline of traditional magazine publishing, while Blunt’s character — now a powerful executive at a luxury brand — holds the advertising dollars Priestly desperately needs.
The film may also draw inspiration from Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, the 2013 book sequel in which Priestly reenters Andy’s life after she’s become a top editor.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, marking 20 years since the original strutted into pop culture history.
